Reducing Environmental Impacts in the Production Processes

starting of main content

To reduce the environmental impacts generated by production activities, we set concrete quantitative targets and endeavor to improve continuously.

Preventing global warming

In line with the effectuation of the Kyoto Protocol, we promote further reduction of CO2 emissions by energy conservation activities.

CO2 emissions from oils, gas and fuel were calculated using the values defined in Article 3 of the Order for Enforcement of the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures. Since fiscal 2008, we have been calculating emissions from electricity including at overseas Group companies, using as coefficient the average value of all power supplies for 1990 in Japan (0.417 tons-CO2 /MWh). Since fiscal 2008, CO2 emissions calculated using the “CO2 emission factor by electric power supplier,” issued annually by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, are also shown in the above graph in light blue dots.

Amount of Waste and Recycling rate

We are working to reduce the amount of waste generated and engage in recycling with the aim of carrying on Monozukuri that makes comprehensive use of recycling and for the purpose of effectively using the earth's limited resources.

Reducing Emissions of Chemical Substances

We continuously promote reducing chemical substances released into atmosphere by means of efficient use of materials and improvement of production equipment.
