Environmental Accounting

The Hitachi Chemical Group employs an environmental accounting system based on the Japanese Ministry of the Environment’s 2005 Environmental Accounting Guidelines and publishes the results the system yields. We systematically and effectively allocate business resources to environmental initiatives based on the environmental-accounting results for each fiscal year, and work to continuously improve our environmental record by making our environmental investments and activities more efficient. In fiscal 2016, in addition to global warming, a traditional area of our investments, we focused our investments on the prevention of leaks of hazardous substances and other pollutants. Based on our medium- and long-term plans, we continue work to achieve our goal of reducing our global environmental footprint through the means that achieve maximum effectiveness at lower cost.
